Photographer Ann Bromberg's "Ten Thousand Kisses" is a group of 10 mixed media gum oil, polymer photo plates on water color paper. Inspired by Leonard Cohen's poem "A Thousand Kisses Deep," each piece has an offering that was given to the artist through her years of travels from spiritual places around the world. The rich, evocative layers of repeated flowers along with various hand writing and other imagery represents the essence of love, loss and spirit.

New Orleans artist, Lori Gordon was a landscape painter prior to Katrina. While cleaning up from the hurricane she started collecting the pieces of her recycled art. Now she creates mixed-media assemblages of reliquaries which are repositories for relics and other sacred objects. Her broad interpretations in this series range from traditional Christian themes to ones that allude to the "everyday sacred" while others refer to a reverence for the natural environment.

The intent is to allow a meaningful representation to emerge unfettered that leads to greater relationship with the Self, that empowers growth, healing and changing lives. WHAT TO EXPECT.......... Lynn Dewart, an artist and visionary, shares her work and her world of experience in creative expression as a pathway to intimate relationship with self. Her soft sculptures and artdolls provide a doorway to encounter La Que Sabe (the One Who Knows), the Wild Woman and other aspects of the sacred self. They are Healers and Cantadoras, doors and windows, avenues and pathways for healing trauma, encouraging growth and expression, and embodying hope. She retrieves and integrates the lost, forgotten, discarded, stolen and unfamiliar parts of herself. Appreciating the human condition is one of her gifts, the healing and wholeness of individuals is her passion. We will create an environment to stimulate and support the creative process, a safe place for personal expression of the fertile imagination. We will play, ponder, explore, discover, reveal and awaken through creative urges and spontaneity using a variety of art materials and the doll forms provided. Sumner & Dene is proud to present "Kenny Chavez Recycled Art and Jewelry" February 6-28 with a reception for the artist Friday February 6, 5-9pm. Albuquerque artist Kenny Chavez is known for his flavorful and whimsical tin and recycled art plus unique beaded jewelry. He recently had an exhibit at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Kenny uses found objects, photo collages, rusted tin and many Altoid boxes to create his recognizable assemblages. Being February, many of the works in this show have a romantic and Valentine theme.

PAINTINGS FROM A WET PLANET ~ the ART of ANGUS MACPHERSON .. a large survey of paintings by Angus Macpherson inspired by his planet's stormy mountain tops to ocean froth, from city lights to natural satellites. Angus is a recipient of the 2009 Local Treasures presented by the Albuquerque Art Business Association this coming September. Watch for the awards presentation at the Albuquerque Museum. In addition, Angus will be honored this fall as the University of New Mexico's Homecoming featured artist. The University Alumni Association will publish a poster of the Macpherson painting PEAK APRIL. The painting will be in the permanent collection at the University on New Mexico's Hodgen Hall. Macpherson graduated from UNM in 1974.

Once a landscape painter, Lori Gordon lost her home and studio to Hurricane Katrina yet found an amazing new genre with recycled materials. While cleaning up from the hurricane she started collecting the pieces of her recycled art. Now she creates mixed-media assemblages of reliquaries which are repositories for relics and other sacred objects. Her broad interpretations in this series range from traditional Christian themes to ones that allude to the "everyday sacred" while others refer to a reverence for the natural environment.
